Why do most people root for the underdog?

Most people root for the underdog because they relate to them or just simply get bored. People can be weak, feel like a failure and feel like underdogs themselves. It's very upbuilding to see that even someone suspected to fail is actually able to suceed. It can make us feel stronger and give us motivation to keep going. Other then that seeing the same person or team win again and again can get boring. Someone else achiving victory is something exciting and unexpected. It makes us happy that other people also get to win. In conclusion rooting for the underdog can build us up and make even a simple competition way more thrilling.
